I was suprised Montiel even got up. He was still out and the referee should/could have stopped it right there. Early nomination for ko of the year!!!

Donaire is the real deal. A Filipino to be proud of. Manny's fans should overlook his hype and follow a REAL champion of their descent.

Some of you forget that Montiel was the underdog in this fight - Donaire was expected to win. Not in this fashion of course but Donaire looked stronger, faster and bigger. He was the favourite.

Great win for Donaire and I have all the respect in the world for Montiel for getting up to continue fighting.

Donaire is a brilliant counter puncher with a solid defense, I would love to see him against Lopez and Gamboa. Def one of my favorite fighters, so under appreciative in his country.

            1. i think he's not yet ready for either lopez and gamboa. both of them are already comfortable in the featherweight division. if donaire, wants to climb up the ladder, it has to be gradual - not drastic. IMO, nobody could beat him (donaire) in the bantamweight division, also in the super bantamweight division.

            2. here in the philippines, nonito is not that under appreciated, it's just that the attention is ****** up by pacquiao. but i like donaire's humility. if he wants to be "greatly appreciated" here in the philippines, he should find his own path and create his own legacy. in fact, before pacquiao, the filipinos adored gabriel elorde. the problem with donaire is the fact that he is fighting under the shadows of the living legend.

Donaire is just what boxing needs! Great skills combined with a will to face the best fighters. I think he can build a legacy if he decides to stay at 118 and unify with Moreno/Mares vs Agbeko winner to be undisputed. Then make the move to 122.

Donaire was giving up 4 pounds fight night weighs for your information. He is simply better than Montiel.

Hold your horses, he wants the winner of Vasquez vs Arce next.
