All Star Weekend usually goes an hour and a half over. I remember staying up past midnight for years watching it.

HBO could have been the only channel on TV tonight and no casual would tune in.

Nobody knows who Donaire is outside of hardcore boxing fans, let alone Montiel.

The only viewers that were/are gonna watch this fight no matter what, are only hardcore fans. The NBA isn't stealing any viewers. The same amount of viewers that will watch tonight, would have been the same amount with or without any other special sporting event going on.

If you're talking about Mayweather or Pacquiao, then that's a different story since they actually attract casual viewers.

The one's losing here are actually the NBA. If there was not a fight tonight, I, and i'm sure a lot of you, would have tune in to the Dunking/3-point contest. As a matter of fact, I was invited to my friend's house to watch it with my buddies and I turned it down to watch tonight's fight.

Honestly Donaire vs Montiel have nothing to lose, the potentially 500k-1Mill viewers who will watch this fight, could have been NBA's viewers.

So instead, HBO is stealing dunk/3point contest viewers from TBS/TNT or whatever channel it will be on.

Think about it for a sec.

Naw I don't know about that....Heck since I haven't been on the forums for awhile I didn't even know the fight was coming on today until I looked up what was coming on HBO. This is one of the most anticipated dunk contest in YEARS. many will be watching this instead of boxing.

                      well.

mexicans like soccer and boxing right?

                      pinoys like watching other pinoys.

hardcore fans sometimes don't like basketball.

so i doubt it's a lose situation for tonight.

i expect most people from USA who like basketball to not watch. but thats about it.
