I think in general casual Mexican boxing fans do respect Pac. Not from any personal experience, but I did see a video on youtube of a Mexican guy walking around in in some city in Mexico asking who they were picking for the pac/margarito fight. General consensus was pac and some even replied with a "are you kidding me? of course pacquiao" look.

That was his first monicker back during his blow by blow days.
