100% not true.
they may not lift weights in a traditional sense like bench and military and squats and what not but many trainers condone proper weight training, including practicing punches or more importantly your defense with weights in your hands.
alos there are plenty of exercises you can do with weights that increase eplosiveness and don't necessatily make you bulkier or slow you down.
wrestling is a martial art and weights are great for wrestling. any ground combat sport combatants should be using weight training for their neck muscles.Comment

Lifting weights cannot be bad for you. Lifting weights does not necessarily mean bodybuilding.
Lifting weights for increased strength will NOT slow you down. What the hell is wrong with being stronger? Nothing.
Take a look at olympic lifters. They aren't huge. They're ****ing strong.
A proper STRENGTH and conditioning regime can only help, not hinder. You're teaching your body to recruit type i and iia fibres, which can actually aid in increasing your contraction speed.Last edited by Shovelhook; 02-19-2011, 01:23 PM.Comment
