Comments Thread For: Night of Champions Early Results From Puerto Rico

Former Olympian Jose Pedraza successfully debuted in the professional ranks by knocking out Felix Manuel Rivera in a lightweight clash. Pedraza is promoted by Lou DiBella, Univesal Promotions and Gary Shaw. Pedraza gave a solid sample of fine boxing, and punching, while throwing combinations that sent his opponent to canvas, and body shots that put his foe down to force the referee's stoppage at 1:24 of the first round as the local crowd went wild.

Quintana won by 9th round TKO. He looked sloppy, though. Took a lot of shots and looked horrible in what was perceived to be a tune-up. We knew he was crazy when he said that he could see himself fighting Martínez. No doubt about it, there is NO WAY he can beat Martínez.

I was there ringside and Quintana didn't look good. He was swelling up by the third round and seemed complacent taking shots. Out of nowhere he started round 9 by wailing on the guy until the ref stopped it.

Pedraza looked amazing. That dude has blinding speed. He needs to loose the amateur jumping but other than that he will be world champion. He was born to do this...
