Torres a step back for Cotto?

Look at his record. Its unbelievably bloated. He's at 28 professional fights and has barely fought anyone with a winning record. Is this a joke? I mean to a regular fan he is going to see the 26's wins by Ko's and say wow this is a great fighter, but we obviously are not regular fans and can see past this horendous matchup.

on the other hand this is the way a good fighter would have disposed of all those opponents(ko) so he is untested and might be a dark horse.

I'm a Cotto fan and have enjoyed his young career so far, but it's ridiculous how there baby stepping this guy along, they're even ducking Kendall Holt for christ sake. I hope HBO steps up to the plate and doesn't allow that fight to be on their air.

Ok, let me try to explain this to you, RICARDO TORRES IS COTTO'S MANDATORY DEFENSE, HE'S THE WBO (COTTO'S BELT) #1 CONTENDER, They were supposed to fight in December, but we know what happen to Branco and also Cotto's team offered the fight to Witter but he didn't want to face Cotto in so short notice.

Is actually better this way, Cotto can take care of his mandatory defense now and then on December he can choose someone else like Holt, Witter, Augustus, etc...

everybodys saying how "torres hasnt fought anybody, he shouldnt get a title shot"

keep in mind: torres hasnt fought anybody noteworthy, but everyone he HAS fought, all bar two have been KOd by him. everybody starts off fighting stiffs, this is the first time torres will step up his level of competition.

torres is undefeated and has won all but two of his fights by KO. regardless of how superior cotto is, he CAN NOT take torres lightly. a KO artist is a KO artist.

im not saying that torres is gonna win or lose, but torres IS the mandatory challenger for cotto's belt. what do you expect after beating 28 opponents without a blemish on your record?

this is torres' coming out fight. all the other jr welter champs are keeping busy: hatton's fighting maussa in Nov. and floyd is on a card with no opponent yet. cotto makes a mandatory defense to keep his title and torres' is finally getting a title shot.

its pretty much a win-win situation. cotto stays busy and doesnt duck a dangerous fighter. while torres gets a title shot and finally fights a noteworthy opponent.

both men undefeated. both men are KO artists. both men are young, promising stars.

              but some1's gotta lose...
