Can a Floyd fan answer this for me PLEASE?

Floyd and his fans claim that Floyd has to play "bad guy/villian" in order to sell his fights and promote himself. They say that he has to talk a lot of **** in order to stay relevant when he's not fighting so that his name will always be the tip of the tongues of both fans and critics/haters. His fans claim that any publicity is good publicity regardless of the fact that Floyd's constantly making an ass out of himself. Ok, if doing all this boosts up Floyd's ppv sales and helps sell the Floyd Mayweather brand then great! It works for him and helps line his pockets will millions.

My question is, why do both him and his fans cry like little twatts when he's criticized and hated on when in reality he's purposely trying to make the boxing world hate him by playing the heel? Does he and his fans not realize that he has to take what comes with playing the bad guy?

I've asked this question many times in threads and it always gets ignored. So?

People need to realise that his "Money Mayweather" persona is just that, a persona. Not the real him. He's not purposely trying to make people hate him. Far from it. Just to create interest in the fight. I really don't care much for some of the pre fight stuff that he says, but it makes the fight interesting. This is why he get's the big money and big PPV numbers, because people want to see whether he will finally come up short or back it up. And he always backs it up. I think that's what gets to him. The fact that it's never ever good enough. Whoever he beats. There will always be criticism. He beats Marquez easily and rather than give him credit they say "Fight Mosley". So he fights Mosley and dominates him. Once again, no credit. Now people are demanding that he fights Pacquiao. If and when he beats Pacquiao people will say there's someone else that he's "ducking".

Nothing wrong with "playing the bad guy". It's not bragging if you can back it up and he's always backed it up. Consistently for more than a decade. He deserves more credit. When he retires, he will finally get it.

This is a rather simple answer. Floyd chose to be the heel to become a bigger star. But if you ever meet the guy like I have done on a few occasions you can tell that he is a sensitive and caring guy. He's stays back to sign every autograph and take every picture with his fans.

Let me give you an example. At the Mayweather - De La Hoya presser at the Waldorf Astoria a few years back...a woman started screaming that "Oscar is gonna knock you out Floyd....he's gonna beat the **** out of you" she get going. What did Floyd do? He got up from his seat at the table walked over to the fan, took her hand and walked her over to De La Hoya and gave her a poster and told Oscar to sign it for her because she is a true fan.

Here's the sensitive side. When I was interviewing him at the press conference to announce the Judah fight, I asked him "What was it about Castillo that gave you so much trouble?" He said "Castillo didn't give me trouble." I said yes he did. He said "no he didn't, not because HBO said he did, that means hat he did." I said well I saw the fight and I had it a draw and if you were truly convinced you won it then why did you have a rematch? Then he we argued a little bit and that was that.

I'm just saying the guy obviously cares about what people say about him. He knows that when he wasn't a heel he was drawing flies in Fresno. His style is great for viewing for boxing fans but it might not be entertaining for the masses all the time but as the bag guy people get drawn to the drama. Some love it and some want his @ss handed to him...he's must see TV.

But the guy trains hard and puts his heart in to the sport and occasionally that comes out after he wins fights....he breaks down.

A lot you guys don't understand that these people are human. Not because you like Floyd that means you must hate Manny and vice versa. I love them both but I think Floyd is the best fighter I have ever seen and should they meet, I think Floyd would knock him out. I just think it's a bad style macth up. Does this mean I hate Pacman? No....I have picked Pac Man to beat everyone except for Oscar. I thought that he was going up too far and Pacman shocked me that night. I think he beats everybody other than Floyd from 147 down. I even thought he won the two Marquez fights.

Anyways I need these two guys to fight selfishly because it is the most important fight in boxing since De La Hoya - Trinidad

just cuz floyd acts a fool doesnt make him less of a fighter. i dont think floyd cares what fans think of him as a person, like u say he is happy playing the heel. but just bcuz u think a boxer seems a certain way personally doesnt make their accomplishments in the ring any less impressive. monzon was an asshole, but he was still a great fighter and ppl need to give him his props for that.

Thats the Tysons and Listons. As long as you are considered animalistic youre ok. They feel you dont pose a threat in any other realm besides boxing. God knows Tyson gave people every reason to write him off. But its cool as long as you remain a circus freak. Im not hating on Mike but thats the way he was viewed. Call it race bait or what ever you like, cant argue with history.

floyd is a great fighter, there's no doubt there. he's also a great promoter of his own fights, as we see with his ppv numbers.

i believe that this tough, ****** personality is indeed all an act, but i also believe that floyd is affected to a significant degree with all the venom and negativity it elicits towards him.

floyd could easily shed this negative image he has built around himself, since the general public is quite easy to forgive and forget.

but if floyd thinks that all the attention and possible money he could get is worth all that negativity, its his call.

too many fighters have taken real challenges and fought hard to earn that sort of accolade. floyd taking vacations and mini breaks does not cut it. Floyds talented but you also need hunger. he has not shown it enough.

I could care less about his motivations for playing the bad guy, but i still can't help but laugh at how effective it is at keeping his name in the mouths of boxing fans. I could give a **** less about why he's posting Pac loses on his twitter, or what he says about who and when, if he's not stepping in the ring to back it up i ignore it. You ask why he makes himself out to be the bad guy, when you are in fact the answer to that question; So that people like you will continue to bring his name up even at a time when people should already be thinking about great fights and great fighters that are actually fighting. As pathetic and pointless you might think it is, he's still on your mind, which means he's doing something right.
