Personally, for me, these have been atop of the list; I promise this is more than worth your time, if you just take a minute to read it: I will cover three fights; Marquez vs Soto, Maidana vs Matthysse and Dawson vs Cloud
Juan Manuel Marquez vs Humberto Soto..why was Erik Morales even in contention for a fight with Marquez?; set aside promotional differences, this fight needs to be made; hopefully Marquez heads to Top Rank, and increases the chances of this fight occurring: we know he'd most likely head for a 3rd fight with Manny; but just in case a fight between Manny and Floyd gets signed for November, a clash between Marquez and Soto seems perfect; for Marquez, it becomes a stay busy fight, an another further claim to why he deserves a 3rd fight for Manny: for Soto, it establishes legitimacy for him in the lightweight division, and perhaps finally gets him the recognition he's been so worthy of in recent years: why he's been the dark horse for so long in regards to major fights, ill never understand; one thing's for sure, alot more is at stake in this fight that most would think
Marcos Maidana vs Lucas Matthysse..two prime 140 pounders, in an all Argentina showdown: common knowledge indicates Amir Khan will eventually head to a 140 unification against Tim Bradley sometime this summer: meaning Maidana will most likely need another opponent after Morales this summer if Khan is indeed not available; who better than Lucas Matthysse? Both these guys can punch until all the lights in the building go out: we heard about the private fight between these two in the amateurs, but this fight is something worthy of being held beyond closed doors: the public deserves this: both are under the Golden boy banner, so make it happen!
Chad Dawson vs Tavoris Cloud..alot has occurred since mention of this fight first began: Dawson lost for the first time against Jean Pascal, Pascal went on to a fight with Bernard Hopkins: suddenly, that fight ends and Dawson begins seeking a rematch with Pascal: then Hopkins throws in his two cents of why he's more worthy of one: chaos ensues, and legal disputes are thrown into the equation: I say, Dawson, let them settle their quarrel: you had a fight the public yearned for far before this: a fight with Tavoris Cloud: what happened to this fight? Take this fight, and put yourself back on the bigger picture, it benefits you more in the long run: cause now instead of just challenging for Pascal's title, you can take a fight with Cloud, take his IBF title, and eventually get a title unification with the winner of the Pascal/Hopkins rematch: and once the dust settles on the light heavyweight dilemna, hardly nobody will be able to dispute your claim as the best in the division: for Cloud, it makes him a legit champion, dropping the alphabet title status he has been tagged with; sure he hasnt exactly faced the best of opposition, but can you blame him? He's made his attempts to improve his standing in the LHW division; a win against Dawson, would solidify this, and im sure no one would find a reason to say otherwise
