if marquez is planning to fight maidana in the future, wouldn't it be advantageous to jmm that his coach nacho, had already trained his would-be opponent and knows the weaknesses to exploit. (kind of like roach training manny against oscar).

I was thinking along those very same lines. He took what could've probably been a complete whitewash, and flushed it down the commode.

JMM pulled a FMJ. Floyd Jr did the same to Roger for wanting to train Steve Forbes. Forbes ended up losing anyway with Jeff in his corner and FMJ didn't fight ODLH and went on to retirement 1.0

It's not a cool move, but most boxing fans are afflicted with short term memory loss. This will be a non-issue 6 months, 6 weeks or even 6 days from now.

All of you guys in this thread are missing the point. This is no different then when Floyd told Roger that he couldnt train Forbes for the Oscar fight. Roger had agreed and then Floyd shut it down. Floyd said that Roger knows how to beat Oscar so why would Floyd let Roger train Forbes when he may upset Oscar and then Floyd loses out on the big money rematch.

Its the same with JMM. Its not about him fighting Maidana in the future. He could care less about that and he knows what side Nacho would be on. Its more about Nacho turning Maidana into a beast who may get big fights that will take food off of JMM's table. Suppose Maidana starts beating all these big money guys that JMM might want to fight in the future?

Not only that but isnt Maidana with GBP who JMM is beefing with right now. How does he look like helping there fighter out right now when he's not happy with them? Thats where he is coming from. He doesnt want Maidana to fight & beat guys who he might soon want to fight and he doesnt want to help GBP out in the process, making Maidana into a great fighter, a star, and they get paid big bucks while JMM is on the sideline.

Dont forget that JMM is the one who wanted the EM fight and GBP shut it down but now he's going to let his Nacho train Maidana for the EM fight? For what? To benefit GBP's pockets and let Maidana get another big fight in the future to take food away from JMM? NO way

as much as i dislike jmm and his pissdrinking sore loser antics, nacho was more to blame for this move, he should have consulted with his other fighters first.

he has been training them for ages so he should have known by now just how much of a jealous b1tch they would act if he decides to adopt another potential rival/opponent... that and he never made a phone call to at least apologize to maidana's team for wasting their time and money, extremely unprofessional.

Maidana training with Ignacio Beristáin would have been equivalent to Ricky Hatton training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. In other words, they have two different styles. Ignacio Beristáin would not have been able to change the way Marcos Maidana fights.

Marcos Maidana should just rehire Miguel Díaz. I do not understand why Marcos Maidana feels he needs a new trainer.
