nope, must not have been paying attention, since youre one of the least knowledgable posters here.
enlighten me.
If you want to pretend you 'won', knock yourself out.
youre the only one whining about some facts.Comment

Yup you missed too because you can't respond to them.
He fought some absolute bum as well but I can't recall his name.Comment

You are trolling my friend. Context is obviously something that hasn't crossed your mind. That doesn't mean we think it's right he beat his women but you can't look back on times gone by and apply todays cultural values to events in the past. It's the same when people start on about Ali being a racist, he would have been in todays context but considering the cultural diference and differences in society back then it becomes non applicable.Comment

yup...green for educating me a lil' more about my peeps first HW champ....this REALLY makes me see him more differently than I did before I hit this thread.....good thread!!http://www.pbs.org/unforgivableblack...out/women.html
Heres some super duper quotes from other blacks associated with boxing that knew Johnson!
-only fought Langford when Langford weighed 156lbs, refused to fight him when Langford actually became a HW
-only beat a teenage McVea
-Won the title off of someone that weighed under 170lbs(Tommy Burns)
-Went to a draw with someone that weighed 160lbs(Jack O'Brien)
-Dropped by a 170lb fighter(Standley Ketchel)
-Was not actually the first black boxing champ(that was George Dixon in 1891), just the first black HW boxing champ
Hoped everyone learned stuff they didnt know about Johnson before!

He's hardly the first professional fighter to beat the sh^t out of a woman,is he? Joe Frazier was arrested just a few years ago for beating up the mother of his youngest son.

Not to mention that Frazier was an even worse cherry picker than Johnson.Comment
