I agree. why? becoz the weight/height debate is really not the issue. We are talking size, here, proportion, the physical dimension. Example: Compare someone who is 5'8", 200lbs, to someone to who 6'2", and also 200lbs. Which, do you guys think, has the bigger proportion, i.e., longer reach, bigger hands, broader shoulder? Who has the bigger dimensions? Boxing only has weight as a classification but it certainly doesn't cover the size issue. I'm not blaming boxing here, just pointing a valid argument.
I rest my case.
If we sit around waiting on fights to be made between 2 fighters who have the same "dimensions", we're going to miss out on a hell of a lot of boxing.
Some "fans" need to stop with all the excuses, and just enjoy the fights.Comment

I can't wait for this fight. I think that I'm still supporting Fernando, but I might change my mind again before the fight
Huge props to both guys, both warriors, one will become a legend.
WARRR Montiel !!
WARRR Donaire !!
Let's get it on
Chill on Donaire, I sure as hell don't think that Montiel is miffed because Nonito is "picking on him"
The guys are right, boxing has weight divisions, not height divisions. Usually when you lose in one area you make up in another.
But Laborer is correct in saying that a taller fighter can sometimes have a physical advantage, it's just swings and roundabouts. One glaring example is P-Will at 147.
The best fighter usually wins regardless, ask Sergio
Donaire will move up eventually, and it's not like he's asking Montiel to fight two divisions higher than his natural weight, like Pacquiao will do to Marquez.
You mentioned Martinez vs Williams and Manny vs. any of his last fighters.
Go back was Floyd too big when he fought at super featherweight and how about Oscar at lightweight? It is called moving up in weight. How do you think guys like that can get titles in 5-6 different weight classes? As they get older their frames fill out.
On that note Donaire is on his 3rd weight class and plans to move to 122 soon if not in his next fight. Montiel is moving up in his next fight regardless.Comment

The problem, is that it's not a valid argument. Not at all, really. So, Donaire is bigger... OK. Wouldn't that make it that much harder on him to make the weight? If he puts in the hard work to make the weight, then he has EARNED the right to fight at that weight. Like it or not.
