Did you have a problem with Chico Corrales fighting at Jr. Lightweight back in the day?Comment

I agree however that about early in his career. And, that he might struggle to make it now. That is why I would rather see him fight at 154. But, if he doesn't struggle and makes it healthy. Then by all means he should campaign at 147. Is that simple really.
I don't even know what is there to debate.Comment

Who told you or anyone else that Paul Williams is struggling to make 147? Did Paul Williams say this? What evidence have we seen that Paul Williams is emaciating himself to make 147?
Cotto had to move to 154 because he can't make 140. He outgrew that weight class a long time ago.Comment

For the record, Alfonso Gomez is scheduled to fight March 19th against a TBA at a TBA location on a card with Vanes, in what most likely will be a tune-up fight since he's had a year layoff and is coming off an injury as well. It's possible, but unlikely he fights Williams on April 30th.
As to Williams making Welterweight, I doubt he can do it anymore, and 154 is relatively weak now. He can easily beat K-9 Bundrage at 154 if he wants a cheap belt and a tune-up. K-9 is physically strong and has heart, but is not skilled at all, has a weak chin, and doesn't bring much workrate to the table.Comment

I apologize if you feel that i have a problem with Williams, just because i don't agree with you doesn't mean i have a hatred for P-Will. All I'm saying is that Williams has a real chance to be great if he truly wants to be, but he would rather stay a big fish in a small pond.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but just because Williams was able to make and be successful at 147 doesn't mean that he's a natural 147 lbs fighter, just looking at his body you can tell that the healthiest Williams looks is at 154+.
He will continue to get no fights at 147 like he has his whole career, because no ww would comfortably fight a 6 foot tall volume puncher at ww, he's just too much of a threat because of that fact , but only at 147, which was the point i was trying to make. At 154 and 160 he can take on the best and could become a force to be feared, but that is if he wants to be.
You mention Cotto but Cotto at the very least continues to try to fight the best out there and would rematch all his loses if given the chance. Cotto fights at 154 even though he has no buisness fighting at that weightclass and will probably lose sooner then later, but at least he has made the effort to become a better fighter, not a complete transformation into a Pac or Marg, but a better Cotto. Paul Williams is not trying to be a better fighter, but going back to where he could be the better fighter without improving himself and sooner or later another Martinez or Quintana will come along.Comment

Williams is in the same position, but he'd rather move down to where he will be 9/10 the longer, heavier fighter, instead of taking the needed steps to correct his flaws and fight at a weightclass where he belongs and honestly where he has a real chance cause no one at 147 will fight him.Comment

The simple point i was making, that you seem to be to dense or are just pretending not to understand is that Cotto has faced serious loses against opposition who exploited his weaknesses, and has made serious decision to better himself as a fighter by bringing on a much better trainer. Will it make a difference? who knows, but it's an effort to become a better fighter.
Williams is in the same position, but he'd rather move down to where he will be 9/10 the longer, heavier fighter, instead of taking the needed steps to correct his flaws and fight at a weightclass where he belongs and honestly where he has a real chance cause no one at 147 will fight him.
The simple point I'm trying to make is that moving down to what he feels is his weight class has nothing to do with anything. you are asking the man to give up natural advantages that he has, which should be part of his fighting style.
While I think 154 is a good weight for him, no one should judge what weight class he belongs at, he belongs at the one he can make and fight at. His height has nothing to do with anything.
Of course he should try and get better, every boxer should try and correct his flaws. Lol, c'mon man. But this notion that his moving down is an attempt to hide from his flaws just doesn't hold water, the guy only went to mw because it was where he could get some money fights (pavlik/Sergio), he's not running from mw.
Tell me this, if he never fought like 147 was too low a weight for him, why is it not his weight class? Because whoever you are thinks he looked drained?
Lol at thinking fighters should move up because they're tall.Comment
