Is Cotto ready for the elite level yet?

Miguel Cotto, fresh off his one-sided massacre of former 140 lb. titlist Randall Bailey, may just be ready for the big time. Within a year, I want to see him in there against Sharmba Mitchell, followed up by one of the 3 recognized belt holders. I think Cotto-Harris is a fight that can certainly happen, as Gatti is not interested in credibility and Tszyu fights once every 2 years. Responses?

Chop Chop Corley would be an excellent showcase fight for him. I think Vivian Harris would be the best test for him at 140, as Harris is a rugged, powerful fighter who comes to bring it. Cotto needs to eliminate every relic at 140 so he can hopefully bait Tszyu into a megafight in late 2005.

Yeah, that same description you gave of Harris fit Kelson Pinto before they fought. I see the same outcome from both tall fighters: Miguel goes to the body and then kills him to the head. Miguel Cotto KO6

Yes, I can see Cotto, with Harris' long torso, ripping him to the body. But the big difference is that Harris will not let Cotto hit him for nothing. He will make him pay for everything.

Somone needs to tell him that when there are 10 seconds left in a round, the round isn't over yet.

i think cotto should take on shamba mitchell before he moves up to the likes of Tzyu, let Tzyu take on Hatton , then we'll see if he's still got the goods to merit a battle with cotto (although i guess cotto is the less seasoned fighter, Tzyu needs to make up some of that credibility)

Skill wise, I don't think anyone other than Mayweater is at his level today. I hope he does see some big fights in '05. If he does, 2005 could very well be the year of Cotto.
