There are slick African-American fighters, but the style isn't different than any other fighter using slick tactics.
Saying that there is, implies that African-Americans would have invented the style and/or that they are NATURALLY slick. Neither of which is true. Quite like all styles, it's a mixture of primitive styles that are then utilized in this newer variation of those styles.
Defensive fighters have existed since the beginning of boxing. Fighters have used speed as both an offense and defense. Fighters have used techniques such as shoulder rolls and feints. Parrying shots. What have you.
This is then all taken in and becomes something that bases itself around the concept of being slick. However, it has NOTHING to do with being black. Black fighters MIGHT use this style more than other fighters, but even that is a generalization and essentially unfounded and untrue.
If you're talking about the theory that black fighters are born with genetics that allow them to use quicker movements (for example) that would be best suited for this style, you'd have a better point.
However, plenty of black fighters have average speed. Average defense. So, even then, the theory would be completely unfounded.
Sergio Martinez is far faster than the black fighters in or around his weight division. He's... not very black at all. He's slicker than the black fighters around his weight class as well. It's a style.. and it's not exclusive to ANY race, ethnicity or nationality.
Most black fighters tend to use this style, one might assess, but that's generally speaking due to the fact that they are taught by other black fighters. Nothing wrong with that.
Still isn't race-exclusive. Still isn't a born right.
Slick African-American style is complete ****.
Slick... African-America fighters do exist. Big difference.
