I was in second grade, and I didn't know the result until I went to school that Monday. It was the talk of the school, but I still thought it was a lie and a cruel joke. When I finally accepted that he had in fact lost, I immediately began to believe that he had thrown the fight.

I thought i was gonna be the only one to say that. I was rooting hard for Douglas too. I was a 10yr old kid standing alone amongst adult Tyson fans. Man I wish I had money to bet. I grew up on Holyfield so Tyson was like a curse word in my mouth. Ive always been partial to underdogs. But it was shocking even still when I watch it. I remember thinking damn this is the first guy that didnt look scared of Tyson.Comment

man every year i always think to myself on this day "damn"..i was not even alive in 1990 when this happend but i was born in 1992 the year mike went to prison
but if i was alive it would have been really hard to watch something like that..if i thought watching abraham getting smacked up for 12 rounds against froch was hard to watch imagine what it would have been like to see Iron Man get KO'd and handed his first defeat....shit like this happens but one thing im proud of is that mike never quit heck he even tried picking up his mouth piece while trying to get off the canvas, he was truly one tough S.O.B.

I can't see anything this big ever happening in boxing again. Roy Jones first KO hurt, but it was nothing like this. Even if Floyd gets demolished in the first round by somebody, I don't think it would outweigh the Tyson-Douglas shock.Comment
