What makes a fight legendary?
I think there is about 1 legendary fight every two to three years.
Lewis VK would have been a legendary night for their rematch, but it shouldn't be for their first fight.
DLH vs Vargas was a good solid fight, but it is not the level of DLH vs Trinidad, the year before. It was more similar to DLH Whitiker.
Castillo Corrales was a great fight, but it was a great fight for hardcore fans, not a fight that warrented non boxing sports media coverage.
The question remains, does a legendary night have to have a buildup, or does a great fight or a fight that something interesting happened it make it a legendary night?Comment

Nobody expected it, Trinidad was thinking his comeback from retirement was gonna be successful after his successful fight vs Mayorga, it sent Trinidads ass back to retirement. It was a legendary night for Wright cause he won 12 rounds against the great Trinidad. It was great cause Trinidad was schooled by a jab, like you said, only a jab, no hooks, no combinations, no uppercuts but a jab.Originally posted by RoyJonesJrp4pno1What was legendry about a great fighter getting schooled by a jabComment

i think it can be either one or a mix of both a fight can be legendary because of the hype even if the fight does not live up to it or it can be based on a fight that did not have much coverage or expectation but was a great fight or war ... for example tyson vs. lewis was onesided beating but legendary because of the hype and the names involved bowe vs. golota will always be remembered not for the fight but because of the riot but it is legendary because evryone wil always remember it ......samething with trinidad vs. dlh the hype and ppv sales 1.9 mil i think make it legendary ....but then you can have a fight like gatti vs. ward which is legendary not for the hype but because of the war that it was ..dlh vs. vargas was a mix of both great fight but also the hype of the bad blood between them going back to their teenage years ..Comment
