  • Amir Khan Breaks Ticket Records at MEN Arena

The Manchester MEN Arena’s record for first day ticket sales was broken yesterday when an unprecedented 9,000 out of approximately 22,000 available tickets sold within hours for the fight between WBA light-welterweight champion, Amir Khan and European light-welterweight champion Paul McCloskey.

The demand for tickets to this fight shows Amir Khan’s increasing popularity amongst the boxing fraternity. His opponent, Irish boxer Paul McCloskey is not even regarded as a big name challenger to the former Olympic medallist, who is trying to use this fight as against McCloskey at the MEN Arena as a pit stop for a possible bout against WBC and WBO champion Timothy Bradley this summer.

Paul is still waiting on his ticket allocation, Khans team better not **** him aorund. He was meant to get 5000 tickets. he got 700 so far and is waiting on the rest.

Ive a bad feeling he wont get them and i missed my chance to get the 40 or 50 quid tickets

Don't worry mate 13 000 tix left. They can't all be ringside VIP tix. They'll most likely be the cheap seats.

do you know where i could get hold of some?

The £40/50 tickets were gone real quick - i tried to get them on the first day too

That's the problem with supporting a fighter who's a big draw

That's good news. This has to bother Frank Warren a little bit.

He talked about how Amir Khan was going to wreck his career with his American-based promotional company. Then, he gets a decent reception coming to America and then he goes back to England and starts breaking records.

                Gotta sting.

Considering the lack of a name-value opponent, this is pretty big business. Imagine if he was facing a Timothy Bradley..

For all you informed and clueless Americans, this is why Khan is fighting McCloskey.
