RICKY HATTON has gone from wanting to wreck Amir Khan's career to promoting his next big fight.
Khan, 24, makes the fourth defence of his WBA light-welterweight title against Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey at Manchester's MEN Arena on April 16.
A few months ago, Khan was talking about fighting 'Hitman' Hatton. But the friends will be business partners for Bolton boy Khan's big homecoming.
Hatton Promotions will run the show for Khan, who last fought in Britain 14 months ago.
Hatton said: "The chance to help in promoting his latest defence is marvellous.
"My hope is it will be a night when the MEN Arena will be rocking, like when I used to fight there."
Hatton won world titles at welterweight and light-welterweight, but believes Khan will beat his achievements.
Hatton said: "He can be a bigger name than I was. I can see no reason why he can't become Britain's first best pound-for-pound boxer in the world."
McCloskey, 31, holds the European title and is unbeaten in 22 fights. Khan said: "It's going to be tough but this is what drives me."
Looks like Khan hired Hatton to promote him domestically in the UK, With GBP and Oscar De La Hoya promoting him the US, Smart thing to do. Except Hatton cant promote a bucket of water in a housefire because he is a fighter and lacks the business mind, Oscar has charisma so he gets away with it.
Basically Khan and his team hired Hatton to be there for a photo op. Hatton needs the money aswell so its win-win.
