Comments Thread For: Caballero Eyes April Return, June Shot at Barros

Reports in Panama indicate plans are being put together for former champion Celestino Caballero (34-2, 23KOs) to have a comeback fight on April 2, possibly in a doubleheader setting with WBA flyweight champion Luis Concepcion. Caballero would return in his first fight since the shock loss to Jason Litzau last November. He wants to use the fight as a tune-up for a possible clash with WBA "regular" featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros of Argentina. Caballero has been appointed as the mandatory challenger to Barros' title.

Title shots immediately after losses, even if they are not for real titles

The reality is Caballero's tune up will be against a hopeless nobody. He just wants to be able to justify getting a mandatory shot right after losing a fight. I am sure Caballero KOing a club fighter will make the dolts at the WBA who mandated he get a title shot feel better
