I actually like Pirog's chances as well but him along with Lemiux, Karobov, Lara and others might not have the experience to knock Sergio off just yet.

Maybe.....but I think Pirog's lack of experience makes this a toss up, when (if he had enough fights and ring experience) he could probably beat Martinez decisively. Just my opinion though.....
All good, to me Pirog has the best skill set at 160. Just an all around better boxer than Martinez, I know Martinez has all the credentials but still...

Am I the only one that's high on Kirkland? I don't think a pure boxer can take out Martinez. I think it's going to take a guy who will press the action. Someone who's willing to cut off the ring. Martinez likes to fight in spots and I think a guy like Kirkland will make Martinez extremely uncomfortable. Also, unlike Paul Williams, Kirkland is a lot shorter and will be able to punch with Martinez when the fight goes to the inside.

147lbs - I think Clottey would be a good test....his style would be difficult for Sergio to get by

154lbs - Kirkland...let Kirkland get back into fighting shape and this would be PPV worthy

160lbs - Nobody really...but I would love to see a focused Pavlik get a rematch.

You know a lot of people actual lie and say they have been following fighters longer than they really have, but truthfully.....I've been following Kirkland since he was 16-17 years old.

I'm from the same area as he is, and one of my brother's best friends actually fought Kirkland (got KO'd in 1 round). Not only that, but I guy I'm going to start training with, worked with Kirkland a lot and we both agreed on one thing.......As soon as he steps up and faces someone with great offense he will be beaten. I feel he will actually get KO'd, but the issue that most people criticize him on is that he gets too focused on offense and completely disregards his defense.

It kinda shows up if you look at his pro fights, but if you followed him in the amateur ranks, he pulls that Ricardo Mayorga b.s. putting his chin out and egging guys to land flush on him. Hell I've seen him let several fighters land combinations on him and while he chilled somewhat as a pro....that alone lets me know he has too much confidence in his chin.

Dude is a KO waiting to happen, and the sad part is he is a really good boxer, but you would never know because he has yet to show it as a pro (dude just believes he can walk through his opponents terminator style and KO anyone).

Sergio beats his as.s. I don't see how Angulo is a bad matchup for Sergio. Martinez has to much skills. He will catch Angulo on the way in, and make him look ****** if they ever fought, which is mainly why Angulo declined a fight against Sergio, despite it involving his largest payday to date.

            Now to answer TS....

I think Mayweather and Margarito are the only two fighters within the range you specified who can beat Sergio.

This is precisely why I think Margarito can beat Martinez...well he did it once already, but I mean now.

Sergio Martinez is kind of the same way though. I know he doesn't stick his chin out, but he is constantly off balance and his defense isn't really that good. He is very prone to Knockdowns. He relies so much on his speed to get out of the way of punches...But I think a guy with an agressive style and good handspeed will be able to beat him.

Granted, I haven't been following Kirkland as long as you, and he just might get KO'd by Martinez. But from what I have seen, I think he has the tools to beat Martinez.

Margarito is finished, IMO. The '07 Margarito had a good chance of beating Martinez @ 154, but I haven't see anything from him recently to suggest he can beat Martinez. Mosley cracked his infamous chin. He looked unimpressive against a journeyman. And then Pac made him look like an amateur. If Cotto fights him in the summer, I expect that to be the final nail in Margarito's coffin.

I think a good jab is kryptonite to Martinez. I give Dzinziruk a chance, Erislandy Lara a chance, and Floyd would be the favorite in my mind. Cotto is just a little undersized, but I think it would be a great fight at 154.

To be honest, If he can learn to move his head better and not get too set on offense, then yeah I agree....he has the tools to beat Martinez. He pressure will give Martinez all types of problems (granted he moves his head when coming inside)....so yeah I agree 100% with you on that bro.
