Marquez versus Morales SHOULD be OFF!!!!

Support for that fight was insane.

Morales struggled mightily against David Diaz like 4 years ago... He was incredibly shopworn when he retired and any comeback should be frowned upon.

ESPECIALLY if its against one of the best fighters in the game today.

Marquez would have DESTROYED morales. It's a completely non-competitive fight on paper. Marquez by KO within 5 would not be a ridiculous prediction at all.

I can't believe people actually supported it to begin with. Especially ESPN's Dan Rafael, whose opinon is about as wishy washy as a politicians. He ****s on EVERY other fight like this, but he supported this one for some reason.

Anyway, im glad this fight is off. It should have never been in discussion and would have been a complete farce. Marquez has PLENTY of competitive fights out there for him. He shouldn't be wasting his time on a SHOT morales

Morales is probably shot , but Marquez is even older than him , Marquez is years past his prime too , and considering their famous mutual opponents it is a shame that fight was not held years ago so matching them now was supposed to be some sort of closing a cycle.

Marquez is older, but come on, there is no doubt who's more worn by this point. Marquez is top 5 p4p, Morales was getting the **** kicked out of him by David Diaz three years ago. Maybe we get a Leonard-Hagler kind of comeback for Morales, but I seriously, seriously doubt it. If this fight sees the seventh round, I will be shocked.

I understand why you think so .
But what prevents Morales from getting into shape ? trimming is really not a difficult thing to do and by trimming I mean losing fat and not dehydrating.

but now thier talking of miadana v morrales!,dont let a legend get beat up when hes clearly past it,hes too poor or stubborn to admit to himself that his time is up.

and marquez needs to unify the lightweight division or prove he can fight a top fighter at welterweight and win.

He's taken so much damage in his career that it's not a matter of getting into shape (although he had issues with that too). His reflexes are shot and the way he's gone up and down in weight in between fights makes losing weight difficult, too.

Marquez should fight him at whatever weight is comfortable for Morales because if Marquez survived Floyd at 147 there is no reason he shouldn't try to ease on Morales with the weight making by accepting any weight Morales asks for.

Regarding the damage , he did fight their common opponents a larger amount of times , but Marquez's fighting at elite level against younger/bigger/both men continuously since 2007 surely didn't spare damage from him .
It is a fact though that for some reason Morales' shape is currently worse than Marquez's but I do not know its reason for sure , I can only speculate .

I think you're forgetting just how many wars Morales has been in. Even when he wins easy, it's not easy because his defense is pretty awful. In-Jin Chi took him to war. Marquez, on the other hand, has gotten a reputation as a warrior lately, but before the first Pacquiao fight, he was a "safety first, safety second kind of fighter" in the words of Larry Merchant. Then he had the war with Pacquiao and lost a bull**** fight to Chris John, but didn't take much damage. Then he went to war again with Barrera, but that wasn't the kind of brutal fight that damages you long term. He had an exciting fight with Casamayor, but again, not a damaging one. Then he had the Diaz fight, but Diaz has such a lack of power that that one probably had little impact. Outside of the Pacquiao fights, the only real damaging fight I'd say Marquez has been in was the Katsidis fight and Katsidis didn't really hit him enough to do long term damage. No, the only thing that's going to get Marquez (unless he fights Pacquiao again or has a spectacular war coming up) is Father Time.
