Contrary to what most on here believe,Mayorga is the type of fighter that gives Cotto problems.Big,physically strong, pressures. If Cotto beats Mayorga,I think he rematches Margarito & beats him too. Then I fully expect a rematch at some catchweight for his 154 title with Pacman.

Yea I agree to an extent, but honestly he looses again with Pac, and Pac vacating the title, that tells you his 154 run is over...

IMO Cotto should go with someone like Chavez early next year at 154, even though IMO Cotto is already small at that weight, it would be a real interesting fight...

I am looking forward to this fight a lot, simply because it's a great way to answer a lot of looming question that i have about where Cotto is heading myself. I consider Cotto and incredibly skilled boxer/puncher with a serious lack of defensive skills. I'm hoping Steward can make him a more wellrounded fighter and this fight will be a test to see if this is true as well as wether Cotto can really hang against a heavyhanded 154lbs.`

Yeah the title was vacated because they had nothing to gain at that time. But If Cotto rematches Margarito & wins, the storyline will be perfect for top rank & rest assured they'll hype it up as if to say well Cotto rematched & beat 1 man,can he beat the other??It's another in house fight & 154 is different than 145.

If he has clean fights with Mayorga and Margarito and they don't turn into punishing wars, I think a fight with Chavez or some like a Martinez Caliber fighter fight will happen early 2012...

I doubt it'll be at the full 160lb limit, Martinez wants Cotto just as much as Cotto would benefit from Martinez and Martinez said he's willing to meet Cotto at any weight beginning at 155, which would level out the playing field.

I personally hate catch weights, and Cotto said he'd never ask for one, but I'm sure if Arum sees the $$ and 155 thru 157 isn't a problem for Martinez it'll be done, but for pride's sake I'd prefer at the limit so no excuses can be made by either camp..

I too think the fight with Mayorga will be a sloppy one, it's just Mayorga's type of style, remember he has always been a street thug and brawler. About a possible Chavez fight? Why even mention it? Waste of time, the kid sucks and it's obvious that they are just fabricating his record. Cotto has to stick with the big names. Chavez? Please.....

Cotto fought all the big names in his respected weight class Judah, Mosley, Paquiao, Clottey, Margarito, and a few world class tough fighters in Foreman and Paulie Malinaggi. He has fought wars Chavez would be a BIG money fight with out the toughness he has had to go through to earn his paychecks in the past. He deserves it.

People are writing Mayorga off way too soon.

Mayo is the strong, pressure, hard hitting type of fighter that Cotto struggles with.

I think Pac said numerous times already that he ain't fighting north of WW anymore.
