WBO/WBC bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel was reported to have put in fourteen rounds of hard sparring and looked fresh at the end. He will defend his crown against tough Filipino Nonito Donaire on February 19 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. He wants to make the biggest statement of his career with a big victory over Donaire. Montiel is already planning a head to a title run at super bantamweight. He stuggled to make the weight for his last couple of fights, although his weight is on schedule for Donaire.

Please. Montiel didn't lose that fight. Gorres was running and grabbing all night long. And when he got dropped hard he began to run and grab even more. Montiel was the champion then like he is now. How could Gorres expect to take the title by running and holding all night long? Also, there's a knockdown in favor Montiel that the ref didn't even call. Don't kid yourself; Gorres didn't win that fight!

11 days to go and it's BOOM time! The more I want to think this will be FOY, my logic tells me this will be like the Sidorenko fight! I hope Montiel lands more to make it more exciting.
