Come on,be objective. Do you think this fight was fixed? I think there is a possibility that it was because Ruiz did not fight that night. Even though his style is weird,it's effective and gets him the win. Any comments?

The fight wasn't fixed. The ref just didn't give Ruiz the chance to fight his fight. Everytime they got close or in a clinch the ref broke them up quick. I think Ruiz also didn't want to get hit after Jones broke his nose in the 4th round. He just didn't take any chances in that fight after he got hurt from that shot. -
Ruiz at one point got popped and wobbled and he stumbled forward, which made him reluctant to fight inside as much.
Plus, part of his strategy to win the fight was to tire Roy by leaning on him and testing his legs. Everytime he would, the ref would step in, sometimes at the ropes, and Roy would skip backwards around the ref to elude Ruiz. It was a great strategy and, seeing as how Ruiz couldn't get to Roy, he had no chance of beating him.
It was a flawless execution, but needed circumstances not likely to happen 4 times in a Best-Of-Seven, which might be why Roy headed back to light heavy.Comment

You took the words right out of my mouth. Nady who refed that night did not allow Ruiz to fight his fight. I congratulate Nady for that and hope he refs the night of Golota vs Ruiz so we can see a new WBA champ.Originally posted by mic573The fight wasn't fixed. You'll need more than a ref NOT letting Ruiz fight his fight. You'll need a ref that DOES let Golota fight his - which includes frequent fouling.Originally posted by ejk22You took the words right out of my mouth. So,would you choose Ruiz in a rematch? I know I would.Comment

Well, with a change of refs, knowledge from the first, Roy's different frame of mind since his last 2 fights... yeah, I'd pick Ruiz - but I wouldn't put money on it.
I'd view it not much differently than I did before the actual fight - I thought if Ruiz got ahold of Roy, Roy was in a lot of trouble. If not, I thought he'd win an easy decision. And that's what happened.Comment
