AMIR KHAN will defend his world light-welterweight title against Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey on April 16.
The WBA champion ditched McCloskey, 31, a fortnight ago when he refused to accept £80,000. McCloskey's £300,000 plus a share of TV sales demand was turned down by Khan's team. But after Lamont Petersen asked for £750,000, a £200,000 deal was struck with McCloskey.
Khan, 24, said: "This is a match-up the British public want."
If Khan wins, he will fight WBC and WBO holder Tim Bradley on July 30.
