Comments Thread For: Berto-Ortiz Inching Closer For Khan-McCloskey Double

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, a deal is "not yet" done, but that it is, "almost there" for a welterweight clash between WBC titlist Andre Berto (27-0, 21 KOs), of Winter Haven, Fla., and southpaw junior welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., as part of an HBO televised, split-site doubleheader on April 16.

They're waiting on Berto's responce Ortiz already said yes to it...He wants people to forget about the Maidana fight by taking on name opponents...I have a hunch that he's aiming to knock Berto out...

This is a great fight and one Victor is very capable of winning. The last two southpaws Berto faced gave him trouble. Quintana I thought knocked him down even though it wasn't ruled as such and Collazo gave him a very very close fight and almost had him down in the first.

And in my opinion I believe Victor hits harder then both Collazo and Quintana.

Ortiz is ****** if he takes this fight.

He should fight tomato cans, re-build his name, then fight Khan for big money.

If they were the same size it would be a good fight. But they're not. And it's not.

Ortiz for 147 champ? That would be something else. I don't think he's good enough to beat Berto from what I saw vs Peterson.

ORTIZ IS BIGGER THAN BERTO...BERTO USUALLY REHYDRATES TO 152 ORTIZ REHYDRATED TO 156...I'm tired of people saying Ortiz is a small guy he's not...
