Manager Vladimir Hryunov has revealed that Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15KOs) is nearly done with the rehabilitation of the hand injury that he suffered in December's ten round decision victory over Nicolai Firtha. In the early rounds of the fight, Povetkin hurt his right hand but still managed to win a wide points decision. At this time, Alexander is training in Chekhov. In the middle of February he will head to training camp in Kislovodsk, Russia to prepare for a potential April fight.

Does anyone know what is done for the confilicting duties of Teddy Atlas? (i.e., his training of Povetkin in a foreign country conflicting with ESPN "Friday Night Fight" commentating)

Atlas' was removed from Povetkin's corner by his management. It has been a nasty breakup.

EDIT: Cant find the video where Atlas explains the breakup. I will if i can locate it.

Is it official that Atlas is out now?

After he called Kalle Sauerland a "punk" I figured his days were numbered as Povetkin's trainer.

Maybe it could still be up in the air? Neither party has admitted he is officially removed i suppose, but I don't see how it would be possible for Atlas to continue with Povetkin now. Hm.

Povetkin's management asked for that video to be yanked from the website after the story about Atlas name-calling Kalle got out.

Haven't heard much about the issue since.

atlas makes good points & cares about his fighter & knows what the boxing game does to beaten fighters.you are great when you win & a forgotten dud when you lose in most cases..you can see in this video he's worried that he thinks the promoter will dump sasha the minute things don't go well for him.he tried picking up michael grant when he lost to lewis but grant was never the same.grant was not ready for a title shot & it destroyed him & atlas doesnt want the same to happen to povetkin...people can call teddy what they want...crazy,overhyped or whatever but they can't say he doesnt care about his fighters health, future & well being...he told grant & moorer to retire.grant did for a long time & moorer bocked at him & got ko'd by tua in 31 seconds his next fight without atlas...we will see where this goes...he told briggs to work harder & to quit worrying about movies & making rap cd's & concentrate on boxing more...he wouldnt & briggs lost to wilson...10 years later briggs came out saying teddy was right all along & i got the interview...most people here cut down teddy but really none of you know him as a person or seen him work his fighters in the gym so you really have no idea what you are talking about but there will always been haters.
