    Is boxing.....

Merely a popularity contest? And whoever is at the top makes the most money? Do yall care about the belts anymore? I ask this because in terms of the ufc .. They can have 10 losses but if they are popular they still get the opportunity to shine regardless of accomplishments (relatively speaking). Lou Dibella touched on this subject a while back during a broadway boxing interview. So what say you.....do you guys look for popular/fan friendly fighters? Or fightera who continuosly work hard regardless of their status?

I think its a combinaton of both. You can have a deserving fighter/champion, but if he's known to stink out the place, then the networks wont be too keen on granting him dates.

Look at Mayorga. Although not deserving, he's very entertaining to watch and continues to get shots.

Unfortunately some fightera are very entertaining and still don't receive those opportunities, I mean look at a prime emanuel augustus.......can anybody here argue that he wasnt good? And he's never received those chances. I for one believe if emanuel were given the opportunity back then he would have been alot better than he was, just alot of favoritism, this is obvious........and a combination of both is good but I for one follow fighters regardless if they're popular or not.

promoters are only thinking about money, it's a business like everything else. good fighters don't get the chances they deserve because it might upset the system
