Former champion Ricardo "El Professor" Cordoba has finally resurfaced and now claims that it was money that caused him to walk away from a possible fight with Juan Manuel Lopez. Cordoba management was negotiating with Top Rank for a Juanma fight on April 16 in Puerto Rico. During the talks, Cordoba vanished and his management was unable to reach him by phone. Top Rank would instead close a deal with Orlando Salido. There were reports that Cordoba has several levels of management who were arguing whether or not the boxer should take the fight. He claims the offer was only "$100,000" and he would have taken the fight for $150,000.

****** move. he's got the chance to fight A prime juanma for a title but wants only 50k more and then he says he'll fight.even if they trying to cash out I never have and never will understand why most fighters have a chance to fight the best and still want to price themselves out.Go out and prove u can compete.he doesn't have a very realistically chance of winning but the way it's playing out now these days with the recycling of opponents , I'm pretty sure gamboa would give him a shot later on like salido got the chance with juanma .

I agree with all this. He just doesn't want to fight, which is a shame since he had a decent showing for himself against Rigondeaux.
