But most people who would buy a Canelo-Mosley fight would already be buying Mayweather-Cotto, and it is not like they can buy more PPV because they like Canelo and Mosley also.
Not necessarily. Believe it or not there are probably some Mexican-Americans who bought the fight primarily because of Canelo. Or that some die hard Mosley fans, an endangered species, bought it because they wanted to see Shane's possible last hurrah.

The numbers that Canelo and Mosley contributed may have been small, but it's still a contribution no matter how you look at it. In layman's terms, having Canelo and Shane fight in the undercard did not detract in any shape or form from those PPV buys. GBP wouldn't have put those two in the card unless they knew they were going to contribute. It isn't an accident that GBP has thrown Canelo in the last two PBF fights.

    • Canelo vs Cotto would have brought as much if not MORE than Cotto-Margarito II.
Mayweather-Ortiz barely cracked 1mil buys, if that. You do the math.

How many PPv buys did Canelo have in his stand-alone PPV?

Funny how emotionally wounded people get over Floyd's success.

I think that group is less than 5%, emphasis on less.

I would say GBP throwing Canelo on the card had less to do with augmenting buys than to get Canelo spotlight and make him look like the next big thing.

That's true... because everybody knows about the bad blood and the storyline behind Cotto-Canelo

People seem to forget(specially Floyd fans) that Floyd's last fight with Ortiz left A LOT of people very upset. They needed those names and their marketbase to make the fight more appealing to casual fans.
They needed Canelo (someone who casual fans arent familiar with) and Mosley (someone who pissed casual fans off with his showings against Pac and Mora) to sell a Mayweather fight?
