      1. There's good, there's very good, and there's great

With every fight, Mayweather is moving up the all-time list. For years, one knock on his record was that, as good as he frequently looked, we didn't know how he would react when he was rocked or when he was in a real dogfight. We know now. When Shane Mosley hurt him badly in the second round of their fight two years ago, Mayweather turned it around and dominated every minute of every subsequent round. When Cotto dragged him into the trenches Saturday night, Mayweather engaged him, firing off the ropes; and when it looked like the effectiveness of that technique was waning after Cotto's blistering eighth round, Floyd changed strategies completely and sailed away with the final third of the bout.

There are plenty of reasons that those fans who don't like Mayweather will find to support their position. But his skills and ability shouldn't be among them. We are watching a genuinely great boxer in his pomp. Whatever our feelings of him as a person, we should allow ourselves to enjoy and marvel at his talent.
      Let's recap:

Floyd has just fought Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez. Three Hall of Famers.

In those three fights, Floyd lost a total of about five rounds. Maybe four.

Got to love the excuses that are coming out.

Before the fight, Floyd is sharper stronger hitting harder, best shape in his life.

After the fight, Floyd is old slowing down, was ill and injured his arm.

Yeah, he's got one or two more fights left and Pacquiao is probably the easiest. Toughest to make though.

what he was holding what holding back. he could have ko cotto. No disrespect to Miguel hes a warrior but Floyd could have continued to box like he did in the first 4 rounds and taken Cotto out by the 10th but he elected to brawl and please the fans.

Floyd was holding back, thats what he was doing.

That was rubbish , look at Mannys head while Cotto was a weight drained weakling , no wonder Manny DUCKs him without a draining CW , Cotto would blow him away when he is not drained .

No he wasn't. Not on purpose, anyway.

Floyd is the best but I think this fight showed he has slowed slightly and a fight with Pac becomes even more interesting.

Canelo impressed me and i like his patience unlike the writer of the article. Usually young fighters come out too aggressive and get caught, Canelo shows patience, poise and delivers when it counts.

I think he did try to end the fight in the 9th but Mosley is one tough sob.
