Young, Athletic Fighters Struggle With "Intelligent Pressure".

I see a lot of people killing Devon Alexander. I was also overall disappointed in the fight because I don't think Dev showed A) a plan or B) a big heart.

But , that being said, I also realize that he is very young, and can come back from this. At least he didn't do an Ortiz (some argue that he did) or a Peterson (DQ via foul).

It seems many of the young, talented, athletic fighters really struggle when a guy applies intelligent pressure to them - and even roughs them up a bit. They have to learn how to fight and counter that style.

Sugar Ray Leonard had a bad night in Montreal when Duran dragged him into the type of fight he wasn't ready for. In a rematch, SRL showed his true level.

Floyd Mayweather had a bad night against a terrific Mexican fighter, JL Castillo. Again, in a rematch, Floyd showed who is the superior fighter.

Roy Jones was frustrated by the Montell Griffin, although Montell applied a different kind of pressure. RJJ's frustration led him to being DQ'd.
In the rematch, he put any doubts to rest.

    There are many other examples.

Devon needs to get an elite trainer. He basically had the same problem with Kotelnik as he had with Bradley. And if you go back and watch the Urango fight, Dev wasn't exactly distancing himself before he landed those beautiful uppercuts.

He ****ed up agaisnt Kotelnik, and IMO Cunningham should have worked on his flaws.

His flaw was his style and tactics, rather than anything physical.

Devon Alexander can't adapt to any style, his win over juan urango is overrated considering urango was never that good to being with

He needs a new trainer asap. He’s a naturally gifted athlete that’s were its starts and ends his arsenal is very limited and he doesn’t fight with a game plan. Cunningham is just a big mouthed idiot Alex needs to cut him loose.

Alexander is a great fighter. Bradley just was better. Simple.

Thing is he looked horrible in his last fight too, he doesn't adjust too well and it looks like he doesn't even have a fight plan in the ring. I mean it was the biggest fight of his career and he didn't do anything.

The only thing that surprised me was that Alexander was pulling his punches. I know that it had something to do with Bradleys constant pressure but Urango also pressured him constantly but he didn't throw g*y punches in that fight.

great is a word thrown around way too much now

there is nothing great about Alexander

he's still young things could change but they need to happen soon

what he has been doing so far has obviously been enough to get him here but now it may be time for something else

maybe we are being too hard on him though after all he is young and Bradley and Kotelnik are world class fighters that would pose problems for any fighter out there in truth

i hope devon can come back just because it would make things more interesting in the division

that being said he went out abit weak i mean the butt was bad really bad

but still we've seen fighters in much worse states fight through it which is why we respect them so much

he has alot to do to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans now much like Cintron and Dirrell do also
