Comments Thread For: Maidana's Trainer, Campbell, Others on Tim Bradley's Win

Last Saturday night in Pontiac, Michigan, WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley recaptured the WBC crown he once held with a technical decision victory over southpaw stylist Devon Alexander. The fight didn't exactly live up to it's billing, as the action was sparse, with an accidental head butt suffered from Alexander forcing the contest to be halted just seconds into the tenth round.

A lot of people overhyped the fight because they vastly overrated Alexander. I expected exactly what we saw. Bradley doesn't stand a chance against Pacquiao, he needs to make the fight with Khan.

Maidana: That would be a damn good fight, and his trainer is right, Maidana is a hard night for everyone.

Campbell: Needs to shut the f*** up. The action in that fight was not uneven, Bradley beat his ass the whole time.He pulled an "it burns!!!!!" he has no one to blame but himself. "Spots, man, I can't see, stop the fight I can't see!!"

        i disagree with Satterfield

that fight between Bradley and Alexander was supposed to determine who is the best at 140 but to me there was no clear cut winner if Bradley totally dominated Alexander then that would be different truth is neither fighter was that impressive to me and i don't know about anybody else but i need to see Bradley in there with Khan, Mattyesse, Maidana or even Judah for that matter before i decide whether he is ready for Pacquiao

at this stage what does Bradley bring to the table to be given the shot at PAcquiao? everbody said Berto was undeserving of a shot but surely Bradley even more so he has only had 1 fight at 147 which presumably would be where it was contested at and i really see no reason to believe he would have anything that could give Pacquiao trouble

Maidana's trainer seems a bit down on him.

Like having a punch like a horse kick is all he has.

i agree with campbell, the refs need to start deducting points for timmah's headbutts. that's the only way he'll learn not to lead with his head.

Some people keep saying that Bradley didn't look good in their fight, but honestly, how do you "look good" in a fight where the opponent is constantly looking to grab and hold - and repeatedly pushing down on his head?? I mean, if his opponent is constantly tying him up, what else could Bradley have done? I could only venture a guess of how many dozens of times Alexander had Bradley by the head, how many times did the ref have to warn Alexander? Personally I think so many people are wrapped up in blaming Bradley for the headbutts that they fail to place blame on Alexander for excessive clinching and pushing down on the head. With as much warning as the ref did for Alexander to not push down on the back of Bradleys head, he should have takin off a point for it. When you warn someone 15+ times for doing something illegal, it's time to do something about it IMO. If people feel the need to express their disappointment with this fight, perhaps they should look to the one that was actually preventing a good fight from happening because he was too busy trying to hold and clinch. Bradley was obviously pressing the action and wanted to fight. I can't say the same about Alexander.

some of these reports make it sound like bradley's stock actually went down even though he walked away with the W in a predictable fight

you're right devon was at fault alot of times

but when you look at it every fighter that Bradley has been in with has basically had the same problem that can't just be Alexander's fault

i expected Bradley to look how he did against Alexander and for those who argue that rounds were close i'd argue just as much that it was Bradley that was really looking to land meaningful punches while Alexander was basically slapping and trying to spoil it was all style over substance I would have given Bradley most of the rounds because of that

but Bradley to me is not that special a fighter anyway i think Khan would beat him

i think Bradley is too good for guys like Judah (at this stage of his career) Maidana and Mattyesse but i would still like to see be interested to see them

Bradley is only on paper the best at 140 because he has wins over holt, witter, peterson and now alexander

but Khan i believe has looked better in beating his last three opponents (minus the way he got buzzed by maidana) and until i see who wins out of them two i can't really say Bradley is the best at 140 even though he has a claim for it

Bradley would be a good opponent for Mayweather to prep for Pacquiao. They are both similar in height and both apply constant pressure. Pac has more power & speed, though.
