Comments Thread For: Pirog: "Ishe, Stop Looking For Attention, Do Something!"

Ishe Smith, American light middleweight and middleweight contender, was a notable figure last week, addressing WBO 160-pound champion Dmitry Pirog and his team with a number of bold statements regarding Pirog's upcoming voluntary defense of the WBO title. Pirog patiently waited for the storm to quiet down and then stroke back with some fire of his own.

I always just thought Smith was just a glorified sparring partner that’s it.

Martinez doesn't want to fight Pirog. Pirog is "high-risk, low reward" kind-of-fighter (despite being a world champion). Pirog needs to build up a fan base.

Martinez wants to cash in on more money now.

Pirog should just fight whoever he can, if he keeps winning it will only increase his popularity and name and put pressure on Martinez. If the time comes I will bet on Pirog.

                  I agree.

I like his style. I'm sure if he continues to fight and demolish his opponents with style then he'll be gaining more fans in the process. I, for one, am already a fan of his.

I think Pirog has looked more impressive then any HBO debut (although his was as an opponent) in recent memory. The dude looked like a 40 fight veteran out there with how relaxed and calm he was. And he did it against a very, very talented and skilled boxer in jacobs, who will make a successful comeback. Pirog is the real deal and the complete package
