I havent tried to wrap my hand that way so i dont know if it is effective or not!! If it is, some sparring parnters going to get a beating!!

Vargas would say Tito's punches are x100 harder because he hate DLH!! I have no doubt he does punch harder but x100!?

Well, it's too late for Vargas now, Winky doesn't want him anymore. His sights are on Tito Triniidad, but to reject $3 Million, probably the most amount of money he'll be offered in his career, is foolish. Maybe he thinks he's Hopkins..

Vargas is one of my least favorite boxers of all time. A punk, a ganster and a big mouth that he can't back up. I wonder why he thinks he still matters? Nobody in Boxing cares about Vargas. DeLaHoya will never give him a rematch becuase of the crap he pulled before the first fight. Trinidad has no reason to fight him..already destroyed him once. Wright might have lost a decision to Vargas 5 years ago, but Winky won the fight in my opinion and is much improved now. Wright is looking for big name opponents, not has been/never were guys. At one time, Vargas definitely showed potential, but I think his lack of intelligence and weak chin destroyed any hope. Maybe he should turn the page and move on...most everyone else has already turned the page on his career.

Maybe he could take up golf, I hear he and his "posse" can swing a mean three wood.

September 19, 2002 -- In his first public appearance since the crushing loss to Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas was in good spirits and is planning to continue his boxing career.

Vargas held a press conference today and spoke to the media about what happened on September 14th when he lost his WBA jr. middleweight title to De La Hoya by TKO.

"I thought I was winning the fight. I was putting pressure on Oscar and hitting him with the harder shots ... I felt strong, but I was unable to get him out of there. He caught me with a good shot. That's boxing."

Vargas gave a lot of credit to the boxing skills of De La Hoya and said "De La Hoya came to fight and not to run -- I respect him for that."

Coming to fight for De La Hoya was something that was questionable in the minds of many before the match, because of his performance during the final rounds of Trinidad fight, three years ago.

But that was the De La Hoya of old and now we could be seeing a new Oscar.

The turning point of the fight came in the tenth round when De La Hoya rocked Vargas with a left hook in the final seconds of the tenth round. With Vargas' head not completely clear, De La Hoya came out strong in the 11th and put Vargas down on his back. Vargas managed to get up, but the fight was stopped seconds later when Vargas didn't respond to a barrage of punches by De La Hoya.

Vargas did finish the fight on his feet.

Despite getting knocked down by De La Hoya and getting his face bloodied, Vargas felt former champion, Felix "Tito" Trinidad is much more of a devastating puncher. "I was hit a hundred times harder by Trinidad," said Vargas when he was questioned about the power of De La Hoya. "I just got caught."

Vargas seemed satisfied with his performance against De La Hoya and said that the love from his fans, makes him feel good and gives him satisfaction. "With the Trinidad fight, I was mad at God." said Vargas in a calm tone of voice. "Now it's different, my fans are happy, I'm in peace with God and that makes me happy."

Vargas is looking to getting another world title and would love to get a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya, but if not, he will look at challenging Winky Wright for the IBF jr. middleweight title.

Vargas is full of **** and he has done nothing to deserve a rematch.

Fact is he talked all kind of **** for years to get that DLH fight and when he finally got he got KO'ed like a *****.

                      How is that possible?

I thought the ref would check each fighters prior to putting the gloves on.
