  • Comments Thread For: Joyi-Takayama a No-Contest, Mendez Decisions Baloyi

At Carnival City in Brakpan, South Africa, IBF mini-flyweight champion Nkosinathi Joyi (21-0-1, 15KOs) retained the title with a three round no-contest with challenger Katsunari Takayama (24-4-1, 10KOs). After a clash of heads in the third, Takayama suffered a very bad cut along the hairline and the ref stopped it at 1:59. Because four rounds had not been completed, the fight was ruled a no-contest.

Mendez must've really put an ass whooping on Baloyi if he only lost 3 rounds in South Africa.

It's so hard to find a ****** for fights in South Africa ....I'm happy Mendez won so easily...now I'm sure he'll be back in South Africa to fight Fana later this year

Nice win for Mendez. Baloyi lost a really one-sided decision to Fana last time out and didn't belong in another title qualifier, but this fight was good experience for Mendez and it sounds like he dominated.
