Before every fight, there is a "fighter meeting" between hbo/Showtime commentators and a fighter and his trainer. The commentators ask questions...

I'm sure they asked mayweather what his future plans were and Steward came
To the conclusion that mayweather was petrified of pacquaio....and years later he has been proven right .

Don't just look at the fact that the fight hasn't happened but look at how mayweather continually plays down the fight by diminishing pacquaio as a fighter whenever he is asked about him, and when have you ever seen pacquaio do the same

"he lost to Timothy Bradley , however you slice it, he lost to Timothy Bradley" really? Lol

    "He got Marquez problems"

"He been knocked out early in his career. Where was pacquaio in 96?"

    "He looked amateurish vs Bradley"

The fight might happen now because his employers CBS might force it

    • Always a good read. While I don't agree with his opinion regarding Floyd's "0", at least Steward is balanced with his criticism.

“They are now cherry-picking his opponents. When you had eight weight divisions, those who moved up the divisions really were special fighters. I’m not saying there are not great fighters around today, but it is manipulated, and the best fighters are often protected.”

“On the other side of the Pacquiao-Mayweather situation, Mayweather is scared to death of losing his unbeaten record, totally petrified. I never thought he would do that. I really only see a 50/50 chance of these guys stepping into a ring to fight each other.”

I wish Steward was still alive today so we could see how he felt about Manny and his team turning down the $40 mil no ppv and the $40 mil/35% offers.

Manny would probably be even more scathing of floyd now given he still hasnt fought him, and he'd be right. Floyd doesnt have a fighting heart, he is a deeply cowardly man, given his profession.

Unless HBO wouldn't allow him to speak his mind, I'd expect Steward to skewer Manny and his team with honesty just like he did above regarding his 8 division title wins. Of course its his opinion, doesn't make it gospel.

Would have loved to hear Steward's reaction to the JMM KO. May not have been as good as Roy's, but he would have surely pointed out the irony/karma of getting KTFO after refusing the $40 mil. Also he would likely would have discussed Manny's request for no OST for the fight.

          RIP Steward.

Why do people pull poor Manny back in here?

No he wouldnt. That kind of stuff only happens in your dreams. MAnny knew way more about boxing than you, his opinion carries weight. You? Well you're far and away the most biased of all the flowmos. Never once have you been unequivocably critical of floyd and thats why you cannot and will not ever be taken for anything other than a fanboy. If he says floyd is scared then he is scared. Simple, just admit it yourself and you'll be on the road to recovery.

he gave varying opinions, some I agree with, others I don't. Its really not a big deal. As I said, I just would have liked to hear what he said about Manny getting KTFO and about the facts surrounding the KO.

                  • The only people still denying floyd is scared are ultra hardcore fans of his. Nobody else really believes that every single week there's a new "problem" preventing the fight (KO 6, Bob Arum, A-side meth, gotta sign with TMT, etc.)

Not only are the flipflopping excuses really obvious, but usually when fighters are making a serious attempt at negotiations they keep it moderately private, not just list off elaborate yet arbitrary conditions at reporters for 5 years. He is scared.

Don't mind him, dunn is up to his usual self, "assuming" what would of happen and then applying it as facts lol.
