I can't believe Manny Steward is telling Cotto to fight from the outside. He's commentated on DLH-Mayorga and Mosley-Mayorga and I'm very dissapointed. He should know better.

    I just don't think he's a very knowledgeable trainer.

the smartest plan to me would be to mostly fight on the outside, but then actually push inward and take the fight even closer if it gets within midrange...and bomb the body. Mayorga's stamina goes flying out the window quickly if you hit him in the gut.

regardless, I think Cotto could do virtually anything he wanted to at this point and still win fairly easily, based off what Ive seen of Mayorga recently.

LOL, the same guy who said it wasn't important to move away from Pavlik's right hand when Martinez destroyed Pavlik by doing that very tactic?

Do yourself a favor: watch Mayorga-DLH/Trinidad, then watch Mayorga-Mosley and Forrest. Then either tell me how right I am, or STFU.

Definitely work the body. He doesnt have to stay inside. I say fight inside and hold after flurrying. Throw short punches and a lot of them.

I agree. I dont think Steward is all that great of a trainer. I just think he has an eye for talent.

He could be trying to mislead Mayorga.

I also think Cotto is going to lead Mayorga into his left hook.

Ricardo loves him some left hooks.

really guys smart boxing from the outside with Mayorga will prove much more effective than what Mosley tried to do against him. Steward will have Cotto Pump the jab, and move away from that crazy looping right hand that is Mayorgas money punch. I suspect Cotto will take him out around the 5th or 6th round that is of course unless Mayorga is dehydrated from getting down to 154 limit and then he could get stopped earlier. This should be a fun one while it lasts.
