just watched the fight...beavidez did not impress me. Not because he did not get the KO but because he did not use his jab. With his reach and speed he could of picked him apart if he used his jab. The little guy was game though.

thanks for the link! didnt catch it the night it happened...
wow, that was a pretty good fight for two up and comers. jose lacked in using his reach to his advantage and not pressuring him, but i give rodriguez props for being able to stand and take those punches, and actually wanting to fight...a good experience for jose, if he keeps fighting guys like this for some time, hopefully he'll correct his flaws...still cant believe he's only 18.

that like to fight on the inside.
Nah, just a rough night he wasnt really expecting. I still think Benavidez will turn out to be the better fighter of the two.

I wouldnt be too hard on benavidez he is only 18 years old FFS. He is a skilled operator from what i can see.

It looked like he punched himself out a little trying to great rid of his guy early.

Benavidez does need a jab in his arsenal and to learn not to stand in the pocket with his opponent as that shouldnt be the game for a 6ft light weight.

He learned more from that fight than all the others previous. Great match making if you ask me.
Had to laugh at the ****s booing him. Over reacting boxing fans as usual...

And yes he looked a little off, i think mostly frustrated he couldnt ko him. Sometime i think he tries to go to the body too often instead of sticking to the head
There is no such thing as going to the body too often. Fighters dont go there ENOUGH.

Agreed. At the latest when he fights 10 and 12 round fights, going to the body "too often" will pay dividends for him.
Everyone who has ever boxed knows about the essence of body shots. If you hit someone in the face, his first reaction is to hit back. If you give him a good body shot, then not so much...

Both Benavidez and Frankie Gomez are extremely young, they can't look like world beaters in every fight. The way they are getting brought up, they will have their first real career defining fights in what, 4 or 5 years? Are we going to raise them up to future #1 P4P champions and write them off as total bums who will never make it a few dozen times until then?
