Comments Thread For: Fury's Promoter: Botha Ban, These Decisions Kill Boxing!

According to a report in The Sun, British heavyweight Tyson Fury (13-0, 9KOs), and his promoter Mick Hennessy, are going to appeal the recent decision from the British Boxing Board of Control, which refused to sanction a fight between Fury and 42-year-old Francois Botha (47-5, 28KOs). The fight was scheduled for February 19 in Wembley Arena.

I agree, Botha is SUCH a big name that this is gonna have a huge impact on boxing as we know it.

    *Sarcasm out the way*

BBoC are doing a great job, they're not taking no crap from anyone. Fighters shouldn't be allowed to fight bums all the time and try and rob the public of their money. Well done BBoC

If more commissions acted in similar fashion, the sport of boxing would be on a higher level.

I understand the need for promoters to safely build up their prospects, but not agains fighters that haven't won a fight in years or have a string of KO losses. These fighters need to be saved from themselves and from these vulture promoters.

So who will Fury fight instead then? Fury is hilarious, I can't hate on the man. His name, his style, his persona... pure comedy. Hope the man does well.

God.... Hennessey is an awful promoter. Why appeal? There is plenty on the domestic scene for Fury to fight!

I like the decision but it's a dangerous precedent. As an old, shot Botha is most like the 2nd best fighter Fury has faced - after Big Fat John.

It's all well and good saying Botha is too old for Fury, but then green-lighting an unknown Ghanian for the commonwealth title in another fight who is simply awful.
