Comments Thread For: Ishe Smith: "If Dmitry Pirog Wants It, I'm Ready"

Junior middleweight/middleweight contender Ishe Smith is ready to face WBO middleweight Dmitry Pirog - if the WBO approves the fight. Smith called out Pirog on Tuesday, and the boxer's promoter, German Titov, told BoxingScene.com's Alexey Sukachav that he's very interested in matching Pirog against Smith, but it all depends on the WBO's approval. Pirog makes the first defense of his title on March 26 in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

        Yes.

He's never been stopped and his losses have been close fights.

This will be a more difficult test for Pirog than Jacobs. In Jacobs he beat a green untested prospect... This will be the fight were we see where Pirog really is at.

            Really?

Jacobs has a win over Smith.

True. But Smith is more experienced, he should have gotten the win against Guerrero. Jacobs was green. Ishe will put up a tougher fight. If Pirog beats Smith I will give him all the credit in the world, so don't even start accusing me of being a racist euro hater or whatever... As of now, Pirog only has one noteworthy win against a prospect, thats it. It's not any better than Veras win over Andy Lee or Prescotts win over Khan.

Please, Smith did not beat Guerrero. Despite his constant low blow, or as his trainer so eloquently called it "behind the barn door", attack, he simply did not win enough rounds. It was a close fight, but Guerrero controlled rounds 2-7 in a ten round fight. Draw at best. Smith makes it interesting because he has a big yap, but he fought a dirty fight and lost.

Useless fight! We already know that Pirog can beat a durable veteran when he shutout Kofi Jantuah.
