MW has been overall a weak division since the mid 1990s. but now we finally seem to be getting some real promising prospects at Middleweight.
Feel free to add some in if I missed some.
-Have to be 28 or under
-Have to have a professional fight
David Lemiuex: My favorite prospect. He has a lot of power and has recently started shortening his right hand, making it compact and sneaky...very dangerous fighter so far. Took out Elvin Ayala in one round, took Arthur Abraham 12 rounds to do it. Even better: only 22 years old.
Gennady Golovkin: Technically not a prospect since he has a 'belt', but belts are so meaningless nowadays I just ignore them...not to mention he beat no one of note for it. Very solid fighter, tons of amateur experience...most notably TKOing Bute in the amateurs. Negatives: Hes already 28.
Andy Lee: After losing to Brian Vera in a war, he has rebounded with 9 straight wins...Although I havent see any of his recent fights. 26 years old is decent, but already kind of old.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: His 41 victories dont mean much, but he did look improved against John Duddy. lets see what Roach can make of him. dont forget hes only 24 years old.
Matthew Macklin: I know nothing about him, but he is scheduled to fight Winky Wright next, so maybe Ill get to judge him there. Already 28 years old though....
Fernando Guerrero: 24 years old and seems like a solid athlete. Fights aggressively and seems to have a lot of passion.
Hassan N'Jiakm: Who is this guy? I dont have a clue who he is, but he seems to be fairly well respected and is 26, hopefully Ill get to see him against relevant opponents in the future.
Matt Korobov: Havent been overly ipressed with him so far, his competition is so-so and hes already 28. Better get a move on quick if he wants to do anything in the division
any others?
