http://www.eatthemushroom.com/mag/ar...d=1514&catID=6 this is a link to the whole interview. I think Steward was simply making the point that a catch weight is asked for because it does affect the fighter, some more than others and it is a mental advantage.Comment

He looked so great at 145, that in his next fight he fought at 154.
About the 1lbs difference that *******s bring up. Okay so 145 was just 1lbs away from Cotto's last fight which was 146. Let's leave out the fact that it was a 147lbs fight and Cotto had the luxury to weigh in at 147, you know, "Aim for the stars and maybe you'll reach the sky". You can aim to make 147, but if you made 146 that's not a problem because you know that's just a product of a healthy camp.
Now you get a 145 catchweight[initially 142 but Team Cotto protested and got it up to 145]. Now you got no place to aim, you have to drain yourself, you're going to hell, you don't have the luxury of coming in at 147. "Oh but it's nothing, it's only 2lbs under 147" Right so why ask for it in the first place, if it's nothing? Because it will not benefit Cotto![2+2], but if it won't benefit Cotto, then who will it benefit??? I'll leave some one else to answer that.Comment
