  • Comments Thread For: Marquez-Morales Update: John Murray, Ray Narh Possible

There is still no deal for Juan Manuel Marquez to fight Erik Morales on April 9 in Las Vegas. Marquez's team have revealed that John Murray (30-0, 18KOs) of England and Ray Narh (24-1, 21KOs) of Ghana are also possible candidates if no deal is met for Morales.

Neither of those deserve a world title fight.

Marquez is a cherry picker at its best for either choosing his same size, faded and shot Morales and unknown and d-class fighter....

never heard of the ghanian until just then (69th in 140lb div according to boxrec) - looks like a tomato can but murray is ranked #6 in the Ring ratings and 4th by WBC at 135...i'd hardly call that D class!!

i say give him a shot.....he is european lightweight champ ...the next logical step is a fight for world title.

I have never heard of the ghanaian fighter until now either. Ghana does produce some good fighters, though. Ali Funeka, from South Africa, who I had never heard of before Nate Campbell fight, turned out to be a pretty good boxer.

Murray i have heard a lot about; it has overall been mixed to mostly positive. He is a big name in England, and if Marquez wants Khan, for huge payday, then this is definitely the best move. Don't know enough about Murray to really make a prediction.

It produces way more awful fighters, though.

Some truly awful Ghanian's have fought for commonwealth titles in Britain - presumably because they were once in the same room as Azumah Nelson once upon a time.

I'm very down on the Ghanian's as a rule if I haven't heard of them.

well v.cassiusali@ya, in all fairness to marquez, and just keeping it real, morales doesn't deserve this fight. Marquez has proven he can sell ppv's (1.1 mill with floyd). argue and say "it was all floyd", etc., but im almost positive that marquez is responsible for his share of that revenue, and realizing that now, marquez sees how badly he lost out on profits to mayweather cause of may's % cut. Marquez deserves the lions share. he deserves at least 70% of the purse and ppv revenue.
