...ummm - did you even read the article? Roach said he hadn't even heard of a request to train Jacobs. I can't see how going out to Wild Card for 8-10 weeks couldn't help a young guy like Jacobs who is trying to rebuild.

i dont see what Freddy can do for him

he might need some mental strengthening after his loss, its that freddy is good for?
People are a product of their enviornment. Jacobs would definately experience some mental strengthening in that enviornment where everyone is hungry, and sparring everday against the best in the world. Pressure makes diamonds, and methinks Jacobs is a little too comfortable in his cozy confines. Wild Card would be just the thing to toughen the kid up. (By the way, I dig your screen-name...I just watched Midnight Run on Encore the other night for the first time in years...it's still as funny as ever!)

I absolutely hate everything about the way Jacobs career has been shaped.

How the heck a NY native fighter never going to fight in NY, fight a bunch of softys and than a tough russian contender.

Nothing about his career makes sense.

Good move. One thing you can really admire about roach is he gets his fighters ready physically and mentally. Roach gets them in great condition and make them go thru hell in the gym. Jacobs always looked to me like a lazy motha****a and roach would discipline his ass and make him work.

On the other hand I don't know how roach manages all these fighters.

Agree. It would definitely toughen jacobs up. Which I think what this kid needs.

              Its called defense.

He may have a decent chin.

He got caught with a good punch by a good puncher.

You don't need a iron chin to be successful.

Is Roach known to be a defensive specialist?

no, in fact i think hes a rather bad fit for jacobs. his offense clearly isnt the problem. hes very dynamic offensively. he needs better d tho.

Terrible idea, Roach won't be able to do anyting for Jacobs. He should go with Emmanuel Steward.
