Chavez Sr didn't fight a significant fight and got a title shot around when he had more than 40 fights. After that he was just dominant. Lockridge and Laporte gave him tough fights but he came through.

Chavez fought all his #1 contenders and anybody making noise at LW and SLW.

Jr can erase doubts of his career with a couple of solid good wins against good opposition
