Martinez becomes the second boxer from Argentina to receive this prestigious honor, the first being Carlos Monzon in 1972.

fight of the year miadana vs khan...

there were better fights than this in 2010

Marquez vs katsidis, Soto vs antillion, Froch vs Kessler, Escalante vs Roman these fights were action packed and competitive

the miadana vs khan fight didnt get going till the 10th round

Why would 27 world champions go and train under Roach if he is overrated?

he works with fighters who already developed their skills. He never brought a champ up fromthe ground up. Nacho built several boxers from the ground up, and has had many champs, which is why i think hes better. Roach is way overrated. I can do that too b!tch

                Pac was the runner up?

I disagree with Roach and Khan-Maidana winning their awards.

Man, Freddie Roach is not the only trainer in the world.

They need to realize that there's a lot more trainers in the world that deserve this award also.

                  Bunch of morons .

Pac shouldnt' even be mentioned. Neither should Roach.

Khan/Maidana was a good fight, but I don't think it was fight of the year. I think there is a little pro Khan propaganda is taking place here.

                    Its a political award.

I agree, I don't think Pac should have been mentioned. Segura, Montiel, and Juanma all had a better year than Pac did this year.

Roach should be mentioned though. He should be in the discussion. People just focus on his work with Pac and to lesser extent with Khan. But, JCC jr looked that the best has with Roach against Duddy. Jose Benavidez Jr looked damn good with Roach and in his fight last night seemed to kind of having stamina issues and went the distance for the first time without Roach. So Roach should be in the discussion. He's a damn good trainer no matter what any hater says.

However, I think Roberto Garcia really made a nice statement this year. He broke into the scene and I think he probably should have won it instead of Roach.

I think Martinez trainer Gabriel Sarmiento also had a better year than what Roach did.

Emanuel Steward should also be in the discussion not cuz' of his Wlad work but because Cotto also looked better than he has in recent times under Steward.

And, IMO JMM-Katsidis and Soto-Antillon were greater fights than Khan-Maidana.
