The possibility in itself of Hopkins becoming the oldest champion of all time if he wins the rematch against Pascal is enough for HBO to buy Dawson-Hopkins.

BUT, HBO is acting a little strange these days.

The WBC wants to have the oldest champion record. They proved already that they are able to do anything they could to be sure it happens. They will strip Pascal, order a fight between the winner of Diaconu-Henry, knwing that Hopkins will win easily that fight.

Forget the WBC. They're acting like a promoter, not like a boxing association. There is absolutely no single reason to force Pascal to give Hopkins an immediate rematch. The decision was close but there was no robbery in it (they have let worst things go without saying anything). More, the Hopkins fight was an optional for Pascal, not even a mandatory. A rematch is just non of their business.

HBO needs to stop supporting these boring fighters with no fan base. I dont mind showcasing them but to pay them millions is what creates this false market for these so called fighters such as berto, dawson, bradley etc.

but that also comes down to the fact there aren't many real promoters out there anymore that actually develop a fighter and turn them into a big draw

Bradley and Alexander are getting overpaid for their fight in my view. But I wouldn't lump them in the category of Dawson and Berto. Each guy while they don't have much power at least come to bring it and are interested in fighting the best except for maybe Alexander here lately with his JMM instead of Khan comments. Berto needs to find a big name opponent in order to reach the main stream.
