Martinez wanted 1.5 to 2 million to fight Cotto. How can anyone blame Arum or Cotto for those fights not happening?

as it? Lou DiBella, who promotes Martinez and Berto, doesn't think so. DiBella says Martinez would have taken a Cotto fight for similar money that he is getting to face Sergei Dzinziruk ($1.5 and $2 million). As for Berto, DiBella says the $1.85 million he asked for was for a total package that including site fees, sponsorship and foreign revenue he estimated to be worth in excess of $5 million.

"Bob knows I'm not unreasonable," DiBella said. "He didn't want to fight Sergio. Mayorga comes cheap because of where he was going, and as you have seen at press conferences, he's an entertaining guy."

Now the title of this thread has a little more substance to it than your other one did. But even so, to me, if Berto priced himself out then Cotto should've fought Martinez. And Martinez asking for a fair share of the money isn't out of the question. He's been on a roll here lately and his fights with Williams did high ratings.

Now as for Berto goes, Arum claims HBO offered 3 mill for the fight which may be true. But if Dibella said Berto asked for 1.8 million then that does sound a little hefty. But what if what he said about the sponsorships and site fees is true. Arum and Dibella claiming different things is a game of he said, she said. Bottom line is Cotto should've fought one of these guys and he didn't.

Money wasnt the reason the fight didn't get made. They have been on record saying that Cotto gets the lion share. Cotto is a beast and will fight anyone. His promoter however has other ideas.
