But opinions aside....im referring to Donaire making the claims himself that he is avoided and that noone wants to fight him. You dont think an emphatic win over Montiel would give any validation to that claim whatsoever?
No it's not. Agbecko called his bluff years ago...even prior to his bout against Darchinyan.

Now I'm not saying Donaire is ducking King Kong either....just saying there are countless fighters who are willing to face him.

Nonito isn't avoided at all.....maybe by Arce but that's it.

As far as validation....a win over Monteil doesn't because there are countless fighters who would be willing to face him. BW is the hottest division in boxing and thats like saying if Sergio beats Bute then that means every one at 168 is ducking him.

It's only ducking if he makes an effort to fight those top guys and they decline (something that has never happened). Until then, his claims are nothing but hot air coming out of his mouth.

FWIW I like Donaire as a fighter. I just hate when fighters say they are avoided when it's not true. Paul Williams is another guy who says that but there are a ton of fighters who were willing to face him as well.

Truthfully, while it appears I'm hard on Donaire, I do so because I recognize his potential.

He is in the golden era of the BW division and if he cleans up that division, moves up and gets a few more solid wins, he will be an ATG.

Rarely are fighters given such opportunities and I'm hoping he takes advantage because he has all the tools to do so.

I doubt he sticks around at 118. He may have a fight or two at 118 if he beats Montiel, but I don't think he'll try and 'clean it out'.

Yeah he has stated he wants to take the "Pacquiao" approach to what's left of his career and attempt to go as high as 130lbs.
